Photos: Scrap plane spotted being towed in Lagos

Relax people, no plane crash landed in Lagos yesterday. According NEMA spokesperson, the plane spotted on the streets of Lagos last night/early this morning is the scrap of an aircraft that was evacuated from the airport last night after the federal government issued a directive that all scrap aircraft be evacuated from all airports. The aircraft was spotted being towed along Mangoro and later seen at a gas station.

Family of Madonna Univeristy fire victim speak out

 

On Saturday June 8th, a room at Saint Peters boys hostel in the Okija campus of Madonna University, Anambra State, was gutted by fire, killing one student. (Read the story HERE).

Rapper 2 Chainz robbed in broad day light

 

US rapper 2 Chainz was reportedly robbed in broad daylight just hours before his appearance at a show in San Fransico. 2 Chainz went on the record to deny the incident ever happened, but TMZ has produced a video showing the robbery go down. According to the description from TMZ, 2 Chainz fell to the ground while trying to make his escape and was pounced upon by the gunman who took his wallet and jewellery. Watch the vide

5 NANS members die in fatal auto crash on their way to UNIUYO

 

The Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Donald Onukaogu and four other students were killed in a tragic auto accident along the Umuahia - Ikot Ekpene federal road on their way to the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State to intervene in the crisis that rocked the school yesterday. The bus they were traveling in collided with a trailer which was said to have lost control.

Donald was a student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.

Composer of Nigeria's National Anthem, Benedict Odiase, passes on

The composer of  Nigeria's National Anthem, Pa Benedict Odiase has passed on. Mr Odiase died last night in his sleep. He composed Arise O Compatriots” in May 1978.

Pa Odiase retired in 1992 as a Deputy Commissioner of Police after being the Director of Music with the Nigeria Police Band.
