Governor Fashola says "It is now illegal to fell trees in Lagos".

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State has disclosed that henceforth, unauthorised cutting of tree anywhere in Lagos is an offence punishable under the law. more after the cut.

Governor Fashola made this disclosure while presenting his keynote address at the presentation of ‘Eko green dream’ initiative process and the launch of ‘Eko Green Card’ on Wednesday. He said that the state government was committed to the development and sustainability of the environment, noting that if for any reason a tree should be felled, it must be with the permission of the appropriate authorities and three trees should be planted in its stead.
